On December 16, Hwang In-Cheol will mark the 49th anniversary of his father being abducted to North Korea. The Korean Air (KAL) YS-11 flight was hijacked to North Korea on December 11, 1969. One of the passengers was Hwang Won, a producer with MBC. Although 39 passengers were returned, 11 abductees, including Hwang Won, were not.
For the last 18 years, his son, Hwang In-Cheol, has been trying to have his father freed from North Korea. TNKR invites you to join us as we gather on December 16 to write letters to various foreign embassies, urging them to question North Korea about Hwang’s father and the other 10 hijacking victims in the UN Human Rights Council.
Guests will have the option of either signing pre-written letters or writing their own letters to the embassies.
Crimes of forced abduction committed by North Korea are vast in number and ongoing. By raising your voice, you will help pave the way for resolving hundreds of other abduction cases committed by North Korea.
